Available courses

After reading this guide, Greeters should know:

  • the Moderator’s name,
  • location of the citywide street listing,
  • location of the unofficial checklist,
  • location(s) of sample ballots,
  • location of the “Return to Undeclared” container (if a partisan primary),
  • location of the camera used to prepare a Challenged Voter Affidavit for voters without a photo ID,
  • the various roles in the polling place,
  • where to direct someone who needs to register to vote,
  • where to direct observers, challengers, and the media, and
  • where to find key information to assist voters.


  • Deputy Registrars are appointed election officials responsible for registering voters on Election Day.  The Office of the City Clerk selects and deputizes registered voters to perform the duties of Deputy Registrar throughout the twelve wards in Manchester.
  • Voter registration in New Hampshire is defined by New Hampshire RSA 654. This guide is written within the guidelines of RSA 654 and offers examples of the required forms used to register voters.


After reading this guide, Ballot Inspectors should know:

  • Which Photo IDs are acceptable under statute,
  • how to distribute ballots,
  • ow to mark the paper checklist, and
  • the proper steps to assist a voter in the voting booth.

After reading this guide, Selectmen should know:

  • the operational requirements of the polling place,
  • what notices and posters required to be posted in the polling place,
  • generally, how the Accessible Voting System (AVS) works,
  • how ballot boxes are certified,
  • Ballot Inspector practices, including:
    • which Photo IDs are acceptable under statute,
    • how to distribute ballots,
    • how to mark the paper checklist, and
    • the proper steps to assist a voter in the voting booth.
